Happy Friday Folks,
Busy week around here catching up on lots of emails, obligations, and spending time with the people I love. Last week it felt like summer and now, as I write this, I’m staring out at the rain and the gray sky outside the window, the heat back on, and I’m reminded that transitions are really more just cycles, the world turning back in on itself. This has been a beautiful month. This is a beautiful life.
Speaking of beautiful things, we published a great new podcast episode this week with the wonderful John Harrison, a musician and artist based here in North Carolina. I especially appreciated the bit on the difference between being open and being vulnerable here. Give it a listen if you have not already!
It’s been a hard week for LGBTQ+ communities and organizers in the South. Donate to the Southern Trans Youth Fund here.
More great ways to support the LBGTQ+ communities here in the South— attend the Here & Queer Festival and support quite a few Good Folk friends, including After The Bloom, Dissimilar South, and our producer, Vic Landers.
Calling all Appalachian artists…
I can’t stop listening to this.
Only here. Only now.
Speaking of poetry, I bought an apocalypse-themed fridge magnet poetry kit, and I think it’s finally breaking me out of my slump:
North Carolina folks! This weekend!
Music for the weekend…
