Woo! Two posts in two days! Welcome to Friday, folks. Here’s your resource roundup for the week.
First, an opportunity— are you a storyteller of any medium over the age of 25? Apply to be a Girls Write Now mentor for the 2022-2023 program year! I’ve been working with Girls Write Now for many years now, and this is an amazing community of incredibly talented people. We’re currently searching for more mentors across the country, and especially in Southern and rural areas. As a mentor, you’ll be paired with a teen writer to mentor, plus you will get access to writing workshops, salons, and professional development events. In the past authors and companies have included Roxane Gay, Brit Bennett, Morgan Jerkins, Anna Quindlen, Penguin Random House, NBCU, HarperCollins, Twitter, HBO, and more. Applications close on Monday!
This week in the newsletter, we’re analyzing the crumbling of American mythologies and the role of storytelling in where we go from here.
