Hi Folks,

Congrats on making it through the first full week of June. Here in piedmont North Carolina, we are getting some cooler mornings and warmer days and lots of sunlight. The world feels a bit lighter than it did a few weeks ago, and I am not going to take that for granted.

Yesterday, I left my teaching job for the last time and drove through downtown Sanford, North Carolina to drop off my keys. At a stoplight, I looked up to this:

There is hope everywhere we look. Even when everyone tells me to give it up, I still have faith in small town America. And if the students I have had the privilege to work alongside for the last two years are any indication, we’re gonna be alright.
